Getting vaccinated also helps protect the people around you, including grandchildren, family and anyone you care for. Due a COVID-19 vaccine too? Ask your pharmacist about having both at the same visit.
Your pharmacist will ask a few quick health questions, then give the jab in your upper arm. It only takes a few minutes. Some people get a sore arm or feel a little tired for a day or two.
Flu can be serious, especially if you’re older or have a health condition. The vaccine is updated every year to match the strains expected this winter, so it’s worth having even if you had one last year.
You can get a free NHS flu jab if you’re 65 or over (or turning 65 by 31 March 2027), pregnant, or have a long-term health condition such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, or heart, kidney or liver disease. It’s also free if you have a weakened immune system or live with someone who does, if you get Carer’s Allowance or are the main carer for an older or disabled person, if you live in a care home, or if you’re a frontline social care worker without a workplace flu jab. Not sure? Book anyway and your pharmacist will confirm on the day.
